 Με μια πρωτη ματια, οι Pact Infernal δεν γεμιζουν το ματι. Project με ανωνυμα μελη, pop αποκρυφισμος, αναφορες στη Θεια Κωμωδια, επικειμενη εμφανιση στο Berlin Atonal. Oλα αυτα ξεφουσκωνουν μεχρι να πεις Resident Advisor. Παντως αν εξαιρεσουμε την ανεξελεγκτη χρηση εσωτεριστικων συμβολων καθως και την καθαρα επικοινωνιακη ανωνυμια του group που με ξενερωνει επειδη 2017, το Infernality μπαινει στα χωρικα υδατα των Raime και των ΟΑΚΕ.
  To δελτιο τυπου του αλμπουμ φροντιζει να αναφερει πως ο Kerridge και ο Trepaneringsritualen ειναι fan των Pact Infernal. Ακουγοντας το, θα καταλαβετε πως ο θαυμασμος ειναι αμοιβαιος. Η τρισδιαστατη κλειστοφοβια του πρωτου καθως και η ριτσουαλια του δευτερου ειναι παρουσες, κρατωντας φυσικα τις πιο φιλικες προς τον μεσο κλαμπερ στιγμες. Κολυβα μεν, με στεβια δε.

 Pact Infernal revel in shrouding themselves in anonymity. Likewise their music is a haunting melange of dark ambient, post industrial and a keen sense of rhythm that owes as much to Raime as to Trepaneringsritualen. Throughout Infernality you'll find enough eschatology to keep you busy, as long as you prefer your end times mythology aestheticized.

Broken English Club - The English Beach

 Στη νοτιοανατολικη Αγγλια, η παρακτια περιοχη Dungeness διαθετει την ομορφια ενος μεταποκαλυπτικου τοπιου. Λιγοστη και σπανια πανιδα, ακομα λιγοτεροι κατοικοι, εγκαταλελειμμενες καλυβες, παρατημενοι φαροι, σταθμοι ηλεκτροπαραγωγης και φυσικα ενα πυρηνικο εργοστασιο. Η μετεωρολογικη υπηρεσια του Ηνωμενου Βασιλειου ταξινομησε την περιοχη ως ερημο λογω της ξηροτητας της.
 Τα παραπανω χαρακτηριστικα σκιαγραφουν μια πολυ συγκεκριμενη ψυχογεωγραφια, παραλληλης με τη μυθιστορια του England's Hidden Reverse, ειδικα αν προσθεσουμε στην εξισωση και την αυτοεξορια του Derek Jarman στον αγυριστο του Dungeness λιγο πριν πεθανει.
 Οπως καταλαβατε το English Beach δεν εχει την παραμικρη σχεση με balearic καταστασεις. Ο Οliver Ho συνεθεσε το ηχητικο προφιλ αυτης της αφιλοξενης λωριδας γης με στεγνο ηχο, δυσοιωνο κοπανημα, hi-hats που ξυριζουν και φωνητικα που πλησιαζουν στο τσακ power electronics. Περιμενω φουλ καφριλα στον επομενο δισκο. #beachplease.

 Following Suburban Hunting, Oliver Ho explores with his second album the inhospitable landscape of Dungeness, an almost official desert in the southeastern end of the UK. The English Beach was recorded inside an old fog signal building, channeling the desolation straight to its 12 tracks. Half of them bang their way with brute monochromatic pulses, while the other half are entirely out of the techno framework and are deeply rooted within the post industrial lineage.

Xordox - Neospection

 Το ολοκαινουργιο ψευδωνυμο του JG Thirlwell παραπεμπει καρφωτα στον Τελικο Κακο ενος coin-op απο το συμπαν του Stranger Things η ακομα και το ονομα του πρωταγωνιστη της πιο sci-fi ειτιλας που δεν γυριστηκε ποτε. Xordox λοιπον, με το αρχικο Ζητα να εκφερεται επιθετικα. Οπως ακριβως στο Lazer. 

 Ωστοσο, η νοσταλγια του Foetus για τα παραλληλα, αισθητικοποιημενα 80s φαινεται να εχει σταθερες βασεις, πραγμα που δεν θα ελεγα ποτε για τα synthwave σκατα που πνιγουν τα recommendations του youtube. Aν μη τι αλλο, εχει δει το Tron. Αλλωστε η κινηματογραφικοτητα της μουσικης του ηταν ανεκαθεν προφανης, απο την ανακατασκευη των Brainticket μαζι με Nurse With Wound, μεχρι το κορυφαιο Ectopia ως Steroid Maximus. Οποτε καταχωρουμε το Neospection στα top soundtracks του ετους 1983, ασχετα και αν δεν ειναι soundtrack, ασχετα και αν εμεις ηδη διανυουμε ενα κανονικοτατο 2017. Χωρις παραλληλες πραγματικοτητες και μαλακιες.

The cinematic experience of Neospection shows JG Thirlwell's retro-futuristic side, recalling Tangerine Dream's Risky Business era, John Carpenter and Brad Fiedel combined with a slight twist of a mutant EBM strain. Xordox creates a parallel, neon-drenched 80s universe with unashamedly vintage synth chords and arpeggiated basslines that move the whole thing into a tense sci-fi battle. Tony Conrad - Ten Years Alive On The Infinite Plain

 O Tony Conrad ειχε δηλωσει ευθαρσως πως θελει να εξολοθρευσει τη μουσικη συνθεση. Δυστυχως δεν προλαβε να τα καταφερει στη διαρκεια της ζωης του, παντως αφησε πανω της ουλες που δεν επουλωθηκαν ποτε. Αυτη η επιθετικοτητα εκφραστηκε με τον πιο τραχυ και στραβωμενο βομβο που βγηκε ποτε μεσα απο βιολιστικα εντοσθια, για να διαπερασει τα σημαντικοτερα κρανια αυτου του πλανητη. Η λιστα τους ειναι τεραστια αλλα και αντιστροφως αναλογη με τη δισκογραφια του ιδιου, που εμεινε για δεκαετιες στο ραφι λογω νομικου κολληματος με τον La Monte Young. Επομενως, καθε δισκος του Conrad ειναι αναγκαιος, ποσο μαλλον οταν αναφερομαστε σε ακυκλοφορητη συνεργασια με Laurie Spiegel και Rhys Chatham απο το 1972.
 Για να περιοριστει ο ογκος του Ten Years Alive On The Infinite Plain, πρεπει απαραιτητα να παιχτει στο mute. Αλλιως το βουητο του υπερχειλιζει τα ηχεια χωρις να προσπαθει στο ελαχιστο. Οσο ο Conrad διανυει με σταθερη ταχυτητα το expressway to yr skull, o ΓΔΟΥΠΟΣ της Spiegel ειναι ικανος να πεταξει τη βελονα απο το πικαπ. Θα το διαπιστωσω οταν παρω επιτελους το δισκο. Προς το παρον βολευομαι μια χαρα με το mp3. Σκατα στους audiophiles. 

 You can never have enough Tony Conrad in your life. So, Superior Viaduct provides us with an unreleased recording, back from 1972, but I can assure you that Ten Years Alive On The Infinite Plain could have been recorded yesterday or -even better- tomorrow.  His enormous sound pisses all over the Bullshit Boring Drone Bands (as Emeralds put it mildly) around, that's why you need to crank this up and bow to His Majesty.

 Απορω με τους ανθρωπους που τρωνε σουβλακια στις 9 το πρωι. Το πεπτικο τους συστημα λογικα εχει κατασκευαστει απο πυριμαχα υλικα αγνωστης προελευσης, με γαλβανιζε σωληνωσεις και γαστρικα οξεα δεκαψηφιας περιεκτικοτητας σε χλωρινη. Κατι αντιστοιχο θα σκεφτονται και αυτοι για μενα οταν μαθουν πως επιλεγω συνειδητα να ακουσω αυτο το split. Οποιαδηποτε στιγμη της ημερας.
 Κι ομως η κατασταση δεν ειναι τοσο υπερβολικη οσο φανταζεστε απο τα ονοματα των συμμετεχοντων. Δεν χρειαζονται ακουστικα βαρηκοιας, ουτε ανοξειδωτα νευρα. Ειδικα η πλευρα του Yasuhito Fujinami deathindustrial-ιζει ολοσωστα και παραδειγματικα. Toυ δινω 3 χρονια για να γινει Μεγαλος.
 Στη δευτερη πλευρα, ο K2 μπαινει σε λειτουργια Αstro/KK Null για 30 λεπτα. Συμπεριλαμβανεται ο χρονος πλυσης και στυψιματος. Αλλα και παλι, τα σουβλακια στις 9 το πρωι ειναι ακραια.

 In the classic split release fashion, this tape pairs a veteran with a newcomer and the latter exceeds my expectations. Fujinami's side is brilliant, with three tracks that challenge the japanoise tag, since he relies heavily on mournful drones that resemble a twisted version of the Malignant sound, rather than the archetypal bright screeches of the genre. This guy will go places. Τrust me.
 On side B, Κ2 has a KK Null epiphany, with a 30 mins spacey improvisation of some sort. While the track builds gradually in intensity, the climax never comes and I was left with a huge question mark above my head. Τhat's quite remarkable in its own right.

 Το οτι περασαν ηδη πεντε χρονια απο το Modern Jester ειναι απο μονο του ενα αξιοσημειωτο γεγονος και θα ημουν διατεθειμενος να το αναλυσω σε περιπτωση που το καινουργιο album του Aaron Dilloway δεν ηταν απο μονο του ενα αξιοσημειωτο γεγονος. Οι λουπες του Gag File παρανοουν το αρχικο νοημα των ηχογραφησεων τους πολυ πιο επιθετικα απο τον προκατοχο του, σε ενα παραληρημα μασημενου industrial και αντεστραμμενης ψυχεδελειας. Χωρις πολλα-πολλα, top 10 απο τωρα.

 My favourite tape mangler returns with his most aggressive set of nauseating loops since Bad Dreams. The Gag File transmutes pre-war blues and bar ambience recordings into sinister industrial vignettes by regurgitating their original context. While you can't help but think of Non, Prick Decay and Merzbow's Pornoise era as scattered references, Dilloway's fingerprints are so unique that will place him again in the top ten lists. If you wanna be amazed, scared and amused in equal measures, you should listen to it asap.

  Επειδη ο αυτοσχεδιασμος δεν ειναι το φορτε μου, καταληγω να μεταφραζω τη γλωσσα του εκαστοτε εγχειρηματος σε μια διαλεκτο που μπορω να κατανοησω. Ετσι, στα αυτια ενος εξοικοιωμενου ακροατη με το χωρο του improv, η συνεργασια της Δαναης Στεφανου και του Μιχαλη Μοσχουτη θα ειναι ενα απταιστο παραδειγμα πιανιστικων και κιθαριστικων μεταπραξεων. Φυσικα, η δικη μου αντιληπτικη ικανοτητα δεν φτανει μεχρι εκει, οποτε εισπραττω το Crease σαν μια εκπληκτικη παραφραση των πρωιμων New Blockaders σε πιθανη μανουρα με τον Derek Bailey. Ναι, ειναι τοσο καλο.

I first came across the term 'instant composition' in a Can interview, where the band described their modus operandi. The phrase stuck into my mind, but at the time I couldn't care less for such things so I flipped the page and continued to live in absolute ignorance.
 Some years later, I found myself inside the wonderful and frightening world of experimental music -whatever that means- but still couldn't grasp the concept of Can's method, because in my tiny mind improvisation began at the end of composition or something like that.
 Crease reminds me of Dimensions Of Dialogue by Jan Svankmajer, more than anything else. Ok, sometimes it has the aura of The New Blockaders or even Organum for that matter, but the ebb and flow between Stefanou and Moschoutis uses the same stop-motion harsh language with the Czech filmmaker. Their interaction is captured by a glorious lo-fi recording, which magnifies the physicality of every sound and keeps the angularity of the project intact. And at last, I gοt what the fuck means 'instant composition' and I'm so happy about it.

Wolf Eyes - Undertow / Right In Front Of You

 O Kiwiknorr τα λεει εδω πολυ καλυτερα απ' οσο θα μπορουσα εγω, οποτε το μονο που συμπληρωνω ειναι PSYJAZZ AF.

 It ain't easy to be a Wolf Eyes fan. You have to be there 24/7, tracking the numerous releases of an ever-expanding discography of a band, which is in a middle of a constant flux of ideas and influences. But it's fun AF. The squad plays a grim mutation of industrial, dub and electronics, while their internet personas are all over the place, with a humour that would make El Duderino laugh out loud. If you can't come in terms with this contradiction, well, you're missing the point. And the fun.
 So even though Undertow and its sibling, Right In Front Of You is damp and reeks of rotten smell, (something like Stare Case playing at the same time with Regression), you can't help but have fun with it, a four-letter word among the scene. I can't find a bigger compliment than this.

  Απαραιτητο ντοκουμεντο 90s διεθνους μπαχαλου, επιμελημενο απο τον Joseph Roemer των Macronympha. Eδω μεσα βρισκονται ολα οσα θα θελατε να μαθετε για το harsh noise και ντρεποσασταν να ρωτησετε.

 This is the shit that people warned you about, before it went meh and broke into a several hundred wanky sub-categories that make absolutely no sense. The perfect document of pure, unadulterated NOISE, with the caps button pressed and glued into position. This essential collection shows the similarities, highlights the differences and creates a continuum between the 90's underground and the current torrent of noisemaking.
 RIYL: Electricity, savagery, people throwing around stuff, awesomeness.

 Τα 666 χιλιοστα που χωριζουν το black industrial και το dark ambient απο το καρναβαλι της Πατρας ειναι ηδη ελαχιστα, οποτε καθε φορα που καποιος Σκανδιναβος επικαλειται τον Κατσικοποδαρο στο ονομα της τεχνης του, φοβαμαι πως για να το εκτιμησω πρεπει απαραιτητα να φοραω δαχτυλιδια απο το Alchemy. Αυτο ειναι οντως τρομακτικο. 

 Ενω λοιπον το concept του Fullstendig Brent αναφερεται στο κυνηγι μαγισσων της μεσαιωνικης Νορβηγιας, οι Dødsmaskin προσεγγιζουν το θεμα καλαισθητα, μπασταρδευοντας την πρωιμη Cold Meat Industry με μια πρωτοεμφανιζομενη για το ειδος ευαισθησια που τεινει προς το shoegaze. Ναι, ειπα ευαισθησια σε ενα κειμενο για album της Malignant. Αυτο κι αν ειναι τρομακτικο. Ευγε. 

 Malignant records is an industrial institution with a diverse, yet cohesive roster of artists, which never fails to deliver the goods. So every time they sign up a newcomer, I'm always there. 

 Their latest discovery is the Norwegian black industrial act Dødsmaskin and its exemplary first physical release. Fullstendig Brent offers five tracks of brooding soundscapes with punitive textures and out of focus melodies that pushes the boundaries of genre electronics.

Vargdöd - Brutal Disciplin

 Σκατοψυχο techno για ανθρωπους που δεν γουσταρουν το techno. To ντουετο των Varg και Celldöd αφαιρει αυθαιρετα το τελικο E απο τον τιτλο του Brutal Disciplin για να μας δειξει πως εδω δεν θα βρουμε χαρες και γλεντια, αλλα το νυκτοβιο ξαδερφακι του Vatican Shadow που ενω δηλωνει πως μισει τους παντες επειδη ακουσε το People του Boyd Rice σε μια στιγμη αδυναμιας, σαρδελιαζεται σε clubs to dance the pain away. 

 Ο δισκος παντως δεν φασκει και αντιφασκει, παραμενει συνεπης και ολοσωστος στο κοπανημα του, εκτος απο το δευτερο track που μοιαζει καπως με Porter Ricks, αλλα μαλλον λεω μαλακιες, οποτε αν θελετε μια πιο ακριβη περιγραφη, να ρωτησετε το ξαδερφακι του Vatican Shadow. Εχει καλο γουστο.

 Bleak industrial techno with a sense of thick dread all over it. Brutal Disciplin begs to be played at maximum volume, preferably in a club, but I have the feeling that stuff like this, speaks mostly to people that don't like clubs. Just listen to it wherever you want, but the ideal would be in the frozen landscape of its cover.

Skullflower - The Black Iron That Has Fell From The Stars, To Dwell Within (Bear It Or Be It)

 Επι 48.000 χρονια, ο Matthew Bower εξακολουθει να εκπληρωνει τις υποσχεσεις του Sister Ray για το τι θα μπορουσε να συμβει στη μουσικη αν οι επομενες γενιες δεν εκλειναν το στερεοφωνικο στα τρια πρωτα λεπτα του. Αυτη η μονομανια τον εχει οδηγησει σε ενα ψυχεδελικο αγυριστο που συνεχιζεται απο δισκο σε δισκο, ακομα απο project σε project. Κατα καποιο τροπο he's searching for his mainline. Μακαρι να μην τη βρει ποτε.
 Η περιγραφη του Black Iron δεν διαφερει πολυ απο την περιγραφη ενος οποιου album των Skullflower της τελευταιας δεκαετιας, οχι ακριβως επειδη η μπαντα δεν εξελιχθηκε με μια εντελως δικη της λογικη, αλλα επειδη τα καταλληλα κοσμητικα επιθετα χρησιμοποιουνται σε καθε δισκο τους. Ομως αυτη τη φορα ισως χρειαστει να χρησιμοποιηθει και το "ευδιακριτο", αναμεσα στο "χαοτικο", "σατανικο" και "αποκρυφιστικο" που τυχον θα διαβασετε, επειδη υπαρχει μια διαυγεια που ελειπε απο προηγουμενες δουλειες τους. I said, he couldn't hit it sideways.

 Τhe art of Skullflower is a demanding one, even if you have been submerged in their noise in the past. They still can summon the Old Ones, by simply doing what they do best for so many years. Tearing you a new one. But they need your full attention to unravel their intricacies, not unlike the expressionist painting that adorns the cover of their latest masterpiece.
 So if you want the most out of The Black Iron, to feel its impetus, I suggest a distraction-free environment, a clouded mind and a pair of headphones as the least sacrifice in their unholy temple. Bear It Or Be It.

 Πισω απο το αινιγματικο project των JH1.FS3 βρισκεται η Puce Mary αγκαζε με τον frontman των Hoax, Jesse Sanes. Το ονομα τους μου δειχνει πως δεν ασχοληθηκαν ιδιαιτερα μαζι του και προτιμησαν να ξοδεψουν την εμπνευση τους στο περιεχομενο της μοναδικης κασετας τους, η οποια περασε εντελως απαρατηρητη απο το πλεον ημιλειτουργικο ρανταρ μου για να ανακαλυφθει κατα τυχη χθες το βραδυ. Παλι καλα. 

 Το Silence.DOM επιλεγει τον βρασμο σε σιγανη φωτια, χωρις να προδιδει την πραγματικη φυση των εμπλεκομενων. Σκεφτειτε κατι μεταξυ She Spread Sorrow, τις πεσμενες στιγμες των Damien Dubrovnik και μιας εγγραφης του Black Post Society σε μασημενη κασετα. Αναμενουμε το ντεμπουτο album που θα κυκλοφορησει συντομα απο την iDEAL.  

 The collaborative effort between Puce Mary and Jesse Sanes is a slow burner οf an album, a restrained affair of lo-fi electronics and passive aggression. If you're into She Spread Sorrow or the whole New Wave Of Scandinavian Power Electronics and the likes, you know what to do.

 Οσο η Filth And Violence ξεγενναει projects με τετοια ονοματα, υπαρχει ελπιδα. Δεν εχω ιδεα για ποιο ακριβως πραγμα, παντως υπαρχει. Τα εχουμε αναγκη, ακομα και αν δεν τα ακουσουμε ποτε. Θετουν σοβαροτατο αντιλογο απεναντι στο οτιδηποτε, χωρις καν να το επιδιωκουν. Οποτε ακουμε φανατικα Scatmother καθως κανουμε τα κυριακατικα ξεσκονισματα, ενω παραλληλα γαμωσταυριζουμε προς καθε κατευθυνση.

 Scatmother belongs in the most depraved part of power electronics, the part that challenges your ideas and taboos unapologetically. The kind of PE I really like. Their Filthy and Violent sophomore is a mostly mid-ranged assault, based around heavily distorted synths, shouty vocals and the usual porn/military/you know the drill samples, while avoiding hooks and values that one might consider as entertaining like the plague. They are named Scatmother, what did you expect.

Yoko Ono - Plastic Ono Band

 When it comes to Yoko Ono, you can't avoid the L word. You just can't separate them, they did everything together for fuck's sake, I mean, they were together even when they broke up for a while. And don't forget that you can't unsee the photo of their asses on the back cover of Two Virgins. But if you can get past the hippie crap and ignore all the cliches that taint her reputation for no reason, you come across a great body of work that paved the way for a broad range of expression in music. Just check Hijokaidan, Tunnel Canary, Sonic Youth, Harry Pussy. Even Deerhoof. Lol.
 Her debut bridged the gap between White Light/White Heat and No New York, while some parts of it make me swear that Ringo and Co listened the shit out of Amon Düül's Psychedelic Underground, with THAT voice on top. Nothing sounds like it and nothing will. You can bring your Junkos and your Diamandas as an example on the table, but I don't care. Yoko is the Queen Mother of Screaming and this album is her Revolver.

Emptyset - Borders

 Το Borders ορμαει στη καρωτιδα με το καλημερα. Ξεχαστε τις ευγενειες του Recur και το αυστηρο πρωτοκολλο συμπεριφορας του Medium. Επιτελους, οι Emptyset εβγαλαν το album που παντα περιμεναμε απο αυτους. 

 Το βρετανικο ντουετο ανεκαθεν γοητευοταν απο τα κλαπατσιμπανα του industrial (μεσω του φιλτρου των Pansonic) αλλα το ειχε φαει η μαρμαγκα των installations και της sound art. Ετσι, μεσα στη μισαωρη διαρκεια του αρτι αφιχθεντος album τους διανυουν περιοδο δευτερης εφηβειας. O οργανικος ηχος του Borders θυμιζει αμυδρα τη πιο συμπυκνωμενη μορφη των Raime που μπορειτε να φανταστειτε, αν οι τελευταιοι διασκευαζαν Test Dept η κατι αναλογο, που ενω ακουγεται πολυ εντυπωσιακο, δεν βγαζει κανενα νοημα. Δισκαρος.

 Borders is the album that you've always expected from Emptyset, but their self-imposed restrictions were in the way. Until now. The project confronts us with an aggressive, physical approach that owes more to industrial, than say, Raster-Noton's back catalogue. Maybe the album title hints at their new direction, between organic and electronic, negative space and sound, rhythm and the lack of it, but I like to think that it's just a reference of the grey zone between their really good past and their amazing present.

The Rita - The Lilac Fairy

 Σε καθε κυκλοφορια του Sam McKinley, γινομαστε μαρτυρες της σταδιακης αποδομησης των φετιχ του, απο το Creature From The Black Lagoon και τους καρχαριες, μεχρι την προσωπολατρεια της Edwige Fenech και τα γυναικεια ποδια. Η τρεχουσα εμμονη με το μπαλετο αποτελει ενα ακομα wtf κεφαλαιο στο εντελως προσωπικο Psychopathia Sexualis του, οποτε στο The Lilac Fairy αποσυνθετει στα εξ ων συνετεθη την αρχετυπικη φιγουρα της νεραιδας Πασχαλιας απο την Ωραια Κοιμωμενη του Τσαικοφσκι. Ειπαμε. Εχουμε θεματα.
 Το πρωτο μισο του album εχει ολα οσα απαιτεις απο το HNW σου. Ενα ογκωδες, ακατεργαστο μενιρ με διαστασεις πολυ μεγαλυτερες του χωρου σου. Αυτα τα βαζεις και τα αφηνεις να παιζουν χωρις να δινεις και πολυ σημασια. Κι ομως απο το δευτερο μισο και μετα, θελοντας και μη, βλεπεις πως η οψη του μενιρ εχει αλλαξει. Οσο δεν παρατηρουσες, ο Rita σκαλιζε αδιακοπα το καλλιτεχνημα του στη σαφεστατα πιο αδεια εκδοχη του, για τον καλυτερο wall δισκο που ακουσες εδω και πολυ καιρο.

 I'm beginning to think of Sam McKinley as a true minimalist. His art moves slowly away from the typical HNW sound, towards a harsh process music, which strips away all of the excessive fat and gets straight to the molecular level of his latest obsession. For the time being, it's the fetishisation of the ballerina, both as a strictly disciplined artist and an elegant female form.
 The Lilac Fairy deals with its subject matter, like all great Rita albums do. With layer upon layer of heavy crunch and heavier crackle, to the point of total saturation. And then some. For the better half of the record, the wall seems like a study in stasis, even though you hear some jittery slight changes. The patterns that emerge from side C onwards may or may not be actual, due to the listener's inherent need to recognize something familiar. Anything really. Either way, the record slays.

 Μεχρι να εντοπισω την ακριβη πηγη του sample σε εκεινο το κομματι του Pita απο το Get Out, πιστευα για χρονια πως προκειται για καποια αντεστραμμενη βερσιον του Ecstasy Of Gold. Τουλαχιστον βρηκα το συνθετη. Δεν θα μπορουσα να μπερδεψω τον Morricone με κανεναν αλλον. Τελικα, το ατιτλο επος του Rehberg χρωσταει τη ψυχη του στο Come Maddalena, το οποιο ανοιγει το δισκο της σημερινης αναρτησης.
 Φυσικα, ενα soundtrack του Mαεστρου δεν χρειαζεται τα διαπιστευτηρια τριτων για να μπει εδω μεσα, ουτε καν της ταινιας που ανηκει. Το Maddalena χοντρικα θιγει την ενοχικη παλη μεταξυ σαρκας και πνευματος και ενω κινηματογραφικα αυτη η ιδεα εχει αποδοθει δεκαδες φορες πιο ευστοχα, μουσικα αμφιβαλλω αν εχει επενδυθει καλυτερα. Ακουστε το. Το εχετε αναγκη.

 Ennio Morricone's discography is immense, so you need any help that you can get if you wanna go beyond the spaghetti classics or the latest deluxe giallo reissue that you just can't afford. So, I found my slowly to Maddalena through Pita's sampling on his monumental track from Get Out, which still sounds like the future itself.
 The movie brought up issues about the conflict of spirituality and carnality. Musically, that clash translates into a bittersweet fusion of orchestral arrangements and some sort of psychedelic-tinged sounds, that we have come to associate with the equally libidinous Gainsbourg/Vannier collaboration in Melody Nelson. Essential stuff.

Συμφωνα με καποιους πολυ προχειρους υπολογισμους μας, θα πεθανει ο Χαρος. Απο τις 21.00 και μετα.  Επομενως, κανετε ευλαβικα νηστεια μεχρι τοτε και φυσικα δηλωνετε τις παρουσιες σας στη σελιδα του πολυαναμενομενου event. Ελπιζω να φανταζεστε το λογο για τον οποιο αυτη η προσκληση δεν θα συνοδευτει απο το αγγλικο της αντιστοιχο. Η κατασταση κλειστηκε αυθορμητα και δεν θα θελαμε ποτε να επιβαρυνουμε τους εκατομμυρια αναγνωστες μας με αεροπορικα κερατιατικα.

Black Merlin - Hipnotik Tradisi

 Οπως καθε (πρωην) αναγνωστης του Wire που σεβεται τον εαυτο του και θελει να δειξει ποσο γουαουομαιγκαντ πσαγμενος ειναι, ετσι και γω εχω μια επιδερμικη επαφη με την παραδοσιακη μουσικη της Ινδονησιας μεσω της επιρροης της στο post-industrial. Κατι το Third Mind Movements, κατι το Form Grows Rampant, ε και βρεθηκα με καμμια δεκαρια συλλογες της Nonesuch και της Ocora επειδη επρεπε. Θα ανατρεξω σ' αυτες οταν η κατασταση γινεται ψιλοαπελπιστικη και θελω να τσεκαρω αν το ταβανι αλλαξε απο την τελευταια φορα που το χαζευα. Λειτουργει 100%. Ολα ειναι στη θεση τους. 

 Το Hipnotik Tradisi ανηκει στη σπανια κατηγορια δισκων που μπορεις να τσεκαρεις τη λειτουργικοτητα του ταβανιου σου απερισταστα καθως κουνας ρυθμικα το κεφαλι σου. Αυτη η διπολικοτητα μεταφραζεται σε επιτοπιες ηχογραφησεις gamelan ορχηστρας απο τα ταξιδια του Black Merlin στην Ινδονησια, που διαδεχονται proper υπνωτιστικοτατο νταμπαντουμπα. Αυτο ειναι το album που πασχιζει να βγαλει ο Fernow σαν Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement αλλα ακομα δεν. 

 Black Merlin's portable recorder captures local gamelan orchestras from the Indonesian islands, while he manages to blend them seamlessly into his locked grooves. The result gets really interesting on tracks like Tutur, which essentially is a post-punk hiccup or the Sandwell Districtisms of Waiting For The Horn, with ceremonial chants and all that jazz. If the cover won't convince you, then nothing will.

Although the cross-pollination between industrial and dance culture is not something new and led to some glorious records, I'm still wondering why are we suspicious about these juxtapositions and we tend to remember the bad examples over the good ones. For every third-rate Wax Trax remix, there still is a 20 Jazz Funk Greats and for every Groovy, Laidback And Nasty there is a Micro-Phonies to separate the shit from the gold. 

 Irrgång is not a danceable record by any means, but some elements are informed of the recent industrial/techno hybrid, even if the press release insists about 'early industrial noise music', so you will move your limbs around to it, either you like it or not. For the most part, Vit Fana's debut sounds like Alberich's beat-driven pieces without the punch, while the vocals fall directly into the whole Silent Servant/Broken English Club territory. Secret Thirteen mixes are made of this stuff. I still can't decide if I really like it or I'm just a victim of the hype.

 Η εναρξη του νεου ετους φερνει μια κοσμοιστορικη αλλαγη στο Corrupted Delights. Απο δω και στο εξης, θα γραφω τα δικα μου και στα αγγλικανικα. H απαντηση στο 'γιατι' θα ειναι 'επειδη ετσι'. Να περιμενετε λαθη, ασαφειες και γενοκτονιες νοηματος. Υπαρχει επισης πολυ σοβαρο ενδεχομενο να εχω εντελως διαφορετικη γνωμη για τον ιδιο ακριβως δισκο μεταξυ των κειμενων. Τα κανω κατι τετοια. 

 A ναι. Καινουργιο Brian Eno, το οποιο τρελαθηκα να ακουσω απο την ωρα που εμαθα πως συνοδευεται απο ενα application που αλλαζει το περιεχομενο του αναλογα με την ωρα αναπαραγωγης του. Μην ακουτε αυτους που παρομοιαζουν το Reflection με το Discreet Music, αυτοι ειναι ικανοι να μπερδεψουν το Taking Tiger Mountain με το Ambient 4. Αν μοιαζει με κατι, θα ειναι με το startup θεμα των Windows 95 αν το ειχε κανει timestretch στα 54 λεπτα. Καθολου κακη ιδεα. Χαραμιζομαι. 

From now on, Corrupted Delights will be bilingual -or at least it will try to be-, so be prepared for some serious misspellings, inconsistencies and a total lack of objectivity. If you don't trust your ears at all and you need some serious reviewing, then you have to look elsewhere.

Anyway, here is the very first big release of the year, namely Brian Eno's Reflection. The reviews around name-dropped Discreet Music as if their lives depended on it. While I totally understand their willingness to boost their credit by referencing a somewhat obscure record from Eno's back catalogue, the truth is really far from it. Reflection seems to hark back in the days of Thursday Afternoon or even Lux, with its sparse textures and its slow movement. It's going to be played on repeat around here, since it's a grower, so I suggest you do the same, especially if you don't expect anything like Discreet Music.

Encephalophonic - X

 H τεχνικη και η υπερκινητικοτητα του harsh noise οφειλεται στους Ιαπωνες. Η βρωμα και η υπερβολη ανηκει στους Αμερικανους. Ομως η κυστη της αρρωστιας του βρισκεται στην Ιταλια, απο την εποχη που το τοτε μονοκυτταρο industrial μπηκε σε διαδικασια μιτωσης για να ξερασει M.B., New Sadism και Mauthausen Orchestra. Οποτε, οσο και να κοπανιεται ο Emanuele Bonini για να καμουφλαρει τη μυρωδια του ηχου του με εξακοσα κιλα χαλασμενου σουσι μπεργκερ, το πυον του X θα ζεχνει μουχλιασμενη μοτσαρελα.
 Προς το παρον, ο δισκος δοκιμαστηκε με υπερκαταναλωση καφεινης μετα απο διακοπτομενο υπνο. Μονο ετσι υπηρχε περιπτωση να προλαβω τα ιλιγγιωδη cut-ups που οποτε δεν προσκυνουν τον Pain Jerk, κανουν τεμεναδες στον T.E.F. Οταν κοπαζουν οι ψιλες, παρακολουθουμε τον Encephalophonic να γυρναει το διακοπτη στη λειτουργια Azoikum, δηλαδη λοκαρει σε μια κατευθυνση και κινειται προς αυτη με καθε δυνατο τροπο, συνηθως με μικρο αριθμο ηχητικων πηγων, χωρις να πολυφορτωνει τον τριγυρω χωρο με στρωσεις επι στρωσεων. Εκει τον γουσταρω παρα πολυ. Και εις ανωτερα.
